The Word of Sunday

Canon Law to Participate in the Most Holy Eucharist As Catholics

We fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. Canon 916 A person who is conscious of grave [mortal] sin is not to receive the body of the Lord without previous sacramental confession unless there is a grave reason and there is no opportunity to confess; in this case the person is to remember the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition which includes the resolution of confessing as soon as possible.” A frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.

Canon 919 A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink, except for only water and medicine.” An exception to this law are the elderly and the sick.

For your Information... 

If you or a family member is sick, or will be going in for surgery, you can call the parish office and ask for the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. This Sacrament can be received more than once when necessary, please do not wait until the last minute (when the person is dying) to ask for this Sacrament because it is not always possible to locate a priest the second that you need him. In case of an emergency, and you are unable to locate your parish priest, please know that every hospital has a chaplain on staff that can assist you.

Si usted o un miembro de su familia está enfermo o va a someterse a una cirugía, puede llamar a la oficina parroquial y solicitar el Sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos. Este Sacramento se puede recibir más de una vez cuando sea necesario, por favor no espere hasta el último minuto (cuando la persona está muriendo) para pedir este Sacramento porque no siempre es posible localizar un sacerdote en el segundo que lo necesita. En caso de una emergencia y no puede localizar a su párroco, sepa que cada hospital cuenta con un capellán en su personal que puede ayudarlo.

Mass Intentions/Ofrecer Una Misa

If you would like to offer a Mass for a deceased person, a birthday, or any other reason you need to do so at least two weeks ahead of time. Please call the parish office for more information. 

Si quieres ofrecer una misa por una persona fallecida, por cumpleaños, o por cualquier otro motivo, deberás hacerlo con al menos dos semanas de antelación. Por favor llame a la oficina para más información.
